Mumbai, India

Given that a vast majority of my significant other’s family lives in south India, it’s safe to say that we’ve spent a decent amount of time exploring and trekking the county itself. While we know of many Indian families that have moved away from their homeland, you can always sense that their heart never fully left India.

Thankfully, I’ve been fortunate enough to frequently visit somewhere in India at least once a year. These visits and holidays often coincide with large family weddings – Mumbai remains one of our favourite quick escapes from families during our longer three week stays. If you are unlike my family, a trip to India offers a once in a lifetime experience and for that I am jealous. I would give almost anything to experience this colourful and awe-inspiring country again for the first time.

While the weather can be exceedingly chilly in the evening, you can still expect scorching hot days. Regardless, whether this trip is for a holiday, to visit family, or for a short stay on your trek across South Asia, India will never disappoint!

There is a secret to enjoying your stay in the heart of Bollywood. Mumbai still holds tight to the art of conservative dress. The second part is the fabric that you dress yourself in. If you dress in anything other than cotton, linen, and the occasional silk garment – you will feel like you’re melting.

Now – onto one of the main reasons you decided to visit Mumbai. Bollywood, a small idea that holds huge influence in not only romance and fashion, but also in the day to day! While yes you can witness aspects of this from anywhere within Mumbai, however, sometimes it’s best to get your information and history straight from the source. Easiest way to go about gathering all of this intel is to book a tour! There are walking, bus, and private tours available – speaking from personal experience, I recommend that you book this tour ahead of time or via a close family or friend to make sure that you are getting the most bang for your buck.
